-MOVIE OF THE DAY-
The House of the Devil (2009)
If anybody has ever talked movies with me before, chances are I’ve brought up this name. The writer and director, Ti West, has a classic style of filming which pays homage to the slasher flicks of the 70’s and early 80’s (this dude is a genius). It starts with the typical case of a young girl babysitting in the spooky house alone. Here’s the twist, this babysitting gig takes place on the night of the lunar eclipse. This is one of those movies with a slow start that works its way up to an amazing heart-pounding last 15 minutes that will keep you peeking through your fingers on the edge of your seat. We spend a lot of time getting to know our main character Samantha as we watch her dance around the house and rummage through the family’s old pictures, so when events take a turn for the worst it hits you 10 times harder (which is a brilliant move on the director’s part). Creating a story that hasn’t been done before in the horror world is nearly impossible, so being one of the very few originals to come out in the last 5 years, I give an enormous two thumbs up to Mr. West! With Ti as our writer and Jocelin Donahue as Samantha (who is the biggest babe ever), this movie is sure to knock any horror fan’s socks off.
10/10

You showed me this movie. I watched it with you. I still tell people to this day to watch this movie because it’s so good.
